Heating and Air Conditioning
RSI Carolina sells, installs and maintains heating and air conditioning systems from Carrier and other well known manufacturers for residential applications. We work with several different types of units and applications.
As stated above there are many different types of heating and cooling systems, RSI is focused on providing the types that are suited for the climate of the Upstate of South Carolina including Greenville SC, Anderson, Cherokee and Spartanburg, Pickens and Oconee. The most popular systems installed in this area are forced air units, that use duct to move air around the structure.
A forced air unit normally uses the following components to achieve the desired comfort level.
Blower Assembly or Air Handler
Heater unit or furnace

Humidifier
Thermostat

Heating:
There are several different types of systems that can heat your space. Most heating units installed in the area use a fuel to provide a heat source. Fuel sources can be electricity, natural gas or propane.
The furnace is often combined with the blower assembly in the same cabinet, either in a closet, in the attic or in a crawlspace.

Heat Pumps:
Heat pumps are becoming more and more popular in the Upstate due to their high efficiency and reliable operation.
Heat pumps act just like a traditional air conditioner when you need cooling and they reverse operation when you need heat. They rely on a reversing valve in the outdoor unit to do so.
Heat Pump Systems mostly use the surrounding air for heat transfer and often include electric booster heaters for extreme cold times. They are consequently called Hybrid Systems or Dual Fuel Systems.
Air Conditioning:
All cooling systems use a compressor to move heat from one place to another. Air conditioners use coils and a compressor to move heat from indoors to the outdoors. This heat is transferred using refrigerants often called Freon.
RSI offers heating systems using natural gas, electric power, heat pumps, air conditioning systems, humidifier and dehumidifier, air handler and all levels of controls from thermostats to zone controls. RSI is factory trained to find you the ideal system for your home.
